Volunteers Helping All of Us
State Emergency Service (SES) is an Australian volunteer organisation that provides emergency help related to floods, storms and other natural emergencies and disasters. The SES began in Australia in 1955, and was originally known as the Civil Defence Service. The name was changed to the State Emergency Service during the 1970s. Every state and territory in Australia has its own State (or Territory) Emergency Service with over 43,000 volunteers across the country.
